What is a layered PDF sewing pattern?

A layered PDF sewing pattern keeps every size on its own layer inside the file. Open it in a PDF reader that supports layers, such as Adobe Acrobat Reader, switch off the sizes you don't need, and only your size prints: clearer lines, less ink, and no hunting for the right line when you cut.

How to use the layers

  1. Open the A4 / US Letter file in Adobe Acrobat Reader (free). Many browser and phone viewers ignore layers.
  2. Open the Layers panel (the stacked-sheets icon on the left).
  3. Click the eye next to each size you don't need to hide it.
  4. Print at 100% / actual size, then check the test square before printing the rest.

Why it helps

  • Readable lines: no more telling seven nearly identical lines apart.
  • Blending sizes: keep two layers on, for example M at the bust and L at the hip.
  • Less ink and paper on the pages you print.

Which of our files are layered?

Frequently asked questions

Why can't I see the layers?

Your PDF viewer probably doesn't support them. Open the file in Adobe Acrobat Reader on a computer, where the Layers panel is on the left.

Can I print two sizes at once?

Yes: leave both size layers switched on. It is the easiest way to blend between sizes.

Does hiding layers change the scale?

No. Hiding layers only hides lines; always print at 100% and check the test square.
