Description

Pleated Wide-Leg Trousers

Judy is a pair of wide-leg trousers with a pleated front and a leg that tapers down to a narrow ankle, giving the silhouette a rounded, barrel-like shape.

A fitted waistband sits at the natural waist with belt loops around it, closing at center front with a button and a zip. Deep pleats fall from the waistband and carry the fullness of the leg, which curves gently in again above the ankle rather than running straight to the floor. Slanted pockets sit at each hip, and a fly front keeps the closure flat and out of the way.

Cotton, linen, wool, corduroy, suiting fabric, and tweed all hold the pleats and the taper well, so pick something with enough weight to keep its shape through the day.

How to print it

Open the file in Adobe Reader

Use the A4 or US Letter file. Adobe Reader is free, and it is the only reader that handles the size layers correctly.

Switch off the sizes you don't need

Open the layers panel on the left and leave only your size visible. You will use far less paper and ink, and the pieces are easier to cut.

Set scaling to 100%

Choose Actual Size, and make sure Fit to Page or Shrink to Fit is switched off. This is what keeps the pattern true to size.

Print page one and measure the test square

If the square measures correctly, your settings are right. If not, check the scaling and print page one again before going further.

Print the remaining pages and assemble

Line up the registration marks, tape the sheets together, and follow the assembly diagram that came with your files.

Prefer a copy shop? Use the A0 file

Hand over the A0 file and ask for 100% scale with no tiling. One sheet, no taping, nothing to assemble.
