Description
Lapel Collar Suit Waistcoat
The Jason Vest is a lined suit waistcoat with a proper collar and a hem cut to a point.
Darts shape the front and the back, and a centre back seam takes in what the darts do not. A collar is made up and sewn to the neck, the facing goes on over it and the lining joins to that facing, so the waistcoat is built entirely from the inside and turned right side out at the end.
Wool suiting, tweed, gabardine, cotton sateen, canvas, twill and linen all sew up well here, with a bemberg rayon or silk lining inside.

How to print it
Open the file in Adobe Reader
Use the A4 or US Letter file. Adobe Reader is free, and it is the only reader that handles the size layers correctly.
Switch off the sizes you don't need
Open the layers panel on the left and leave only your size visible. You will use far less paper and ink, and the pieces are easier to cut.
Set scaling to 100%
Choose Actual Size, and make sure Fit to Page or Shrink to Fit is switched off. This is what keeps the pattern true to size.
Print page one and measure the test square
If the square measures correctly, your settings are right. If not, check the scaling and print page one again before going further.
Print the remaining pages and assemble
Line up the registration marks, tape the sheets together, and follow the assembly diagram that came with your files.
Prefer a copy shop? Use the A0 file
Hand over the A0 file and ask for 100% scale with no tiling. One sheet, no taping, nothing to assemble.
What you are buying
This is a downloadable PDF sewing pattern and its instructions. No finished garment and no printed paper pattern will be posted to you. Fabric, thread and sewing equipment are not included. The garments in the photographs were made using this pattern.
